特記事項

ケベックのために1880年に作られた。当時は英語版がなかった。英語訳の登場は1908年を待たねばならない。
1980年に正式に制定。このときには英仏両方の詞がある。
なお、英語版の歌詞は改訂を経て True patriot love in all thy sons command となり、sons が性に関して中立的でないとして色々紛糾した。
原詩であるフランス語版には性別絡みの部分がなく、単に英語サイドの問題である。結局2016年に"in all of us command"と改訂された。

  • 繰り返される「オー・カーナダー」、クセになる旋律。
  • 実はフランス語版が先。フランス語で書かれた詞に曲をつけ、後に英語版が出来た。
  • 場所によっては（特にケベックやオタワ）、英語とフランス語を混ぜて歌うこともある。混ぜ方は様々。



*1 後の「守りに立つ」に掛かっており、広大な国土のあちこちから国民がカナダを守りに来るぞ、ということ
